Gestalt Psychotherapy
A little about Gestalt therapy
Gestalt therapy focuses on how we experience ourselves and the world in the present moment. It does not interpret or analyse but seeks to explore direct experience.
It considers how our environment, circumstances, and personal history — including our relationships and past experiences — can shape how we feel and act today. By noticing the familiar patterns that show up in our everyday lives, we can better understand what may be holding us back and begin to make different choices.
Gestalt therapy emphasises awareness of what is happening here and now. Together, we might explore how present‑moment experience is interrupted by memories of the past or pulled into worries about the future, and how patterns that once supported you may now restrict your ability to live more fully.
As awareness grows, so does the possibility of choice, agency, and the potential for meaningful change.
Gestalt means whole. It is a holistic, embodied approach that attends not only to thoughts and feelings but also to sensations, the body, and dreams. It is creative, relational, and non-hierarchical. It invites attention to parts of ourselves that are often overlooked in a culture that prioritises the mind.
